The Hotel Nacional is an iconic building, nestled on the beach, in the San Pablo Conrado neighborhood. It was inaugurated in 1972, built by famed Brazilian architect Oscar Niemeyer, and its gardens were designed by renowned landscape designer Burle Marx. In 1995 it was closed down and abandoned for more than a decade. Our firm’s proposal aimed to restore and renovate the cylindrical 34-floor tower building and its public areas, the convention center and the hotel’s exterior and parking garage, to bring the hotel to current standards in the hospitality industry.
